Tiedislands a one day event of contemporary art, live music and discussion, a celebration and a bringing together of audiences offered a meeting place on Portland. Tiedislands was an opportunity to hear from and to question John Maine RA artist of the Chiswell Earthworks and Michael Prior a representative of Nowhereisland an Arctic Island by Alex Hartley. Tiedislands also created the opportunity to reflect on public art practice and its relation to the places we find it.

Tiedislands proved very dynamic. In the build up a team was brought together to carry out remedial repairs to the Chiswell Earthworks. On the day a great team came together to create a warm welcome to all in the Chiswell Walled Garden. Inspired by the project ‘til there was uke’ created and performed an original welcome song entitled ‘Nowhereisland’. Tiedislands instigated two musical collaborations between professional musician Nigel Hopkins and Weymouth Concert Brass and the emerging musicians Arran Jung with Swift Current.
